A significant birthday...

Actually, I guess they're all significant in that you're still here to experience 'em! I had a lot of friends over on Saturday (even though my official birthday is Monday, the 23rd) including Bill Mize and Beth Bramhall (congratulations newlyweds!!), Art Booth, Dori Legg, Suzi Katz, Jerry Hudgins, James and Melanie Clayton, Mitchell Lonas, Joe and Nancy Lalley, Ruth Smith (Anne's 'bonus aunt') Sally Rhoades and Tom Leiner.

Mucho cake, wine and snacks were nibbled all afternoon. It was a bit too chilly for outdoors, but it still was nice and sunny.

And, my favorite card, from mom:

Beth Bramhall did a wonderful 1949 trivia quiz for me. You can view it here, or click on a picture below. (It's worth a visit... see if you can name all the folks in the photos!)

Today Anne and I went to the Biltmore Estate and had a picnic of cheese, crackers, salad and wine. It was very warm and beautiful and the Forsythia and Spirea were in bloom. (I remember many a birthday with blizzards outside in Wisconsin!)

Anyway, as usual, I'm the first of my siblings to reach a decade marker. What's with you guys? Why can't one of you take the lead for a change? Jeff??

Update: Annie said "be careful what you wish for!" She reminded me that there is one sure-fire way to get out of the lead role on this one... I decided to retract that last paragraph and just be happy to be first!!
