Asheville's Almost Famous...

Annie and I are going out...a rare thing these days! We're going to the Cinebarre, a new movie theater/bar/restaurant a few miles from here. They're having an evening of fun in which local bands and music acts show their videos/short films and generally have a good time. They're not taking themselves too seriously as there will be some humorous awards, a red carpet and just a loose time.

Annie and I joke around about "goin' out to see what them young folks is up to." I'm sure we'll skew the average age up a few years but we're hoping it'll be fun.

I'll let ya know when we get back... (Click on the title of this post to read an article about the event.)

  1. Well, it was fun. there was one very cool video by some friends of ours that are in the Firecracker Jazz Band. They do an early twentieth-century dixieland jazz type thing with stride piano, a euphonium, trumpet, drums, trombone and banjo/guitar. Check out their web site at http://www.firecrackerjazz.com/. Their video was themed after the Wizard of Oz and had that cast of characters: tinman (as bartender) scarecrow (patron and dancer), the wicked witch, Glinda the good witch, et al. It was a lot of fun.

The rest, however, let me know that the bar is low enough for me to try someday with my little Casio camera and some imagination. Not sure how many folks would want to watch a white-haired aging rocker chip away at a tune, but what the heck...

  2. Joe, you don't have to find the groove,.....you create it!
White haired, aging rockers are "in" these days. (ie., super bowl half time entertainment)
Go for it! (You can be mellow when you're dead)
BTW, I've never known you to "chip away" at a tune. That was usually my job!

  3. You're right about that half-time entertainment...a bunch of aging rockers that still do it right. I love Tom Petty!

And, I remember you held up your end of the music deal quite well in Late Night Sports! It was fun!!
